Ascension is active in various Social Ministry activities, providing many opportunities for individuals of all ages to participate in these fulfilling missions.

In the past twelve months, members of Ascension have made three “Socks and Sandwiches” mission trips to Manhattan, distributing bags of sandwiches, snacks, socks and toiletries to the homeless.

Ascension hosts a soup kitchen “Pasta and The Word”, on the third Saturday of every month in the dining room at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wyandanch.

Ascension members participate in semi annual clothing drives for the benefit of United Veteran’s Beacon House.

Members provide food baskets for the needy at Thanksgiving and Christmas each year; we also maintain a food pantry all year around.

The Christmas season is made merrier for many with the toy drives, Hat and Mitten trees, “Adopt a Kid” Angel Tree and “Operation Christmas Child” shoe boxes donated by Ascension’s parishioners.

Closer to home, we hold an annual flu shot drive every fall and semi-annual blood drives for the benefit of the Red Cross and we host coffee hour after services every Sunday.
